More than €30,000 in the first month of a new Vendor Central operation

An established distributor of premium coffee and household appliances was invited by Amazon to join the Vendor programme.

The company had e-commerce experience, but Vendor Central was a new operating model. Go2Market took responsibility for managing the account, organising an assortment built partly on existing listings and preparing the launch of a new coffee brand.

Sales began in November 2021. The first month generated more than €30,000, followed by growth of more than 50% one month later.

THE STARTING POINT

An experienced e-commerce distributor entering a different relationship with Amazon

The client was an established distributor of high-quality coffee and household appliances.

Its range included whole-bean and ground coffee from major coffee-growing regions, coffee machines, grinders and brewing equipment. Before entering Vendor Central, the company had already gained e-commerce experience through its own online shop and sales on Allegro.

After receiving an invitation from Amazon to join the Vendor programme, the distributor asked Go2Market to manage the Vendor Central account.

Sales began in November 2021.

The initial assortment was connected to product listings that had already been created by manufacturers and other distributors. Go2Market was also tasked with introducing a new coffee brand to Amazon.de.

THE BUSINESS CHALLENGE

The products were already on Amazon, but the distributor could not freely improve their listings

Starting with existing catalogue pages created an immediate limitation.

According to the published case study, Go2Market could not edit the written or visual content on product pages created by manufacturers or other resellers.

That meant the first phase could not rely on rebuilding every listing.

The existing assortment still needed to be organised and developed, while the team had to work within the restrictions of catalogue pages it did not control.

At the same time, the planned launch of a new coffee brand created a different opportunity: for those products, Go2Market could develop dedicated content and marketing activity from the beginning.

The project therefore evolved through two distinct phases.

PHASE ONE

Develop the existing assortment within the limitations of the catalogue

After all products had been added, Go2Market audited the quality of the existing listings.

Suggestions for improving the product pages were submitted, including proposed changes to titles and written content. The product owners did not accept those changes, so the existing pages largely remained outside the team’s control.

The first phase therefore focused on three priorities documented in the case study:

  • organising the assortment after connecting the Vendor offer to existing listings;

  • attempting to improve those listings through submitted suggestions;

  • maintaining sales growth despite the content restrictions.

Even with those limitations, sales developed quickly.

The first month generated more than €30,000, and the following month recorded growth of more than 50%.

MANAGING GROWTH THROUGH A PRICE CHANGE

Early momentum did not continue in a straight line

The case study records another important change in early 2022.

Prices were increased, which negatively affected sales performance. By July, however, the situation had improved significantly, with the case study reporting 57% growth.

September then produced the highest sales level recorded since the business entered Amazon.

Compared with January, sales were 47% higher.

The trajectory was therefore not a simple sequence of uninterrupted monthly growth. The account experienced a setback following the price increase before recovering later in the year.

That context matters when interpreting the final result.

PHASE TWO

The new brand created an opportunity to build the offer differently

The next stage was the introduction of new products.

Unlike the existing catalogue pages, the listings for the coffee brand selected by the client could be changed. That gave Go2Market greater scope to develop the customer-facing offer.

Working closely with the brand owner, the team prepared written and visual content for several varieties of whole-bean and ground coffee.

The materials covered the products’ flavour characteristics, brewing methods, bean origin and the story of the company behind the brand.

Go2Market also launched marketing campaigns to support the new products on Amazon.

This created a different starting point from the existing distributor assortment: content and promotion could now be developed around the new products rather than inherited from listings created by another catalogue contributor.

RESEARCH BEFORE THE NEW PRODUCT LAUNCH

Product content was built from analysis rather than description alone

The published case study attributes the work behind the new offers to several areas of analysis and production.

Go2Market carried out competitor research, selected relevant keywords, developed product graphics and prepared the written content for the new coffee listings.

This work supported the introduction of the new brand alongside the existing Vendor assortment.

One of the newly launched coffees reached the five most frequently ordered products in the company’s range during its first month of sales.

The case study also notes that the expansion of the assortment contributed to the stronger sales trend visible from September onwards.

THE RESULTS

The Vendor operation developed across both phases of the project

The published case study records several stages of sales development.

€30,000+ - sales in the first month after launching the Vendor operation

+50%+ - growth one month later

+47% - sales in September 2022 compared with January 2022

+130% - growth between August and November 2022

The page also reports a substantial improvement in July following the negative impact of the price increase earlier in the year.

The clearest later-stage result is the 130% growth recorded between August and November 2022, during the period in which the assortment was also being expanded with the new coffee products.

ONE NEW PRODUCT ENTERED THE CLIENT’S TOP FIVE

The new coffee range began contributing quickly

The launch did not only increase the number of products available through the Vendor account.

According to the published case study, one of the new coffees became one of the five most frequently ordered products in the company’s entire offer during its first month of sales.

This was achieved after the new listings had been developed with dedicated written and visual content and supported by marketing campaigns.

The source does not provide the exact sales value or order volume for that individual coffee, so no additional performance claim is made here.

WHAT CHANGED FOR THE DISTRIBUTOR

The operation moved from selling through inherited listings to launching a brand with its own marketplace content

At the beginning of the project, the distributor depended heavily on catalogue pages created by manufacturers and other resellers.

Go2Market could organise the assortment and submit optimisation suggestions, but could not freely change those existing listings.

The launch of the new coffee brand changed that situation.

The team could develop dedicated copy and graphics, introduce new products and support them with marketing campaigns. One of those coffees entered the five most frequently ordered products in the client’s range during its first month.

Across the wider Vendor operation, the case study records more than €30,000 in first-month sales and 130% growth between August and November 2022.

We can review the starting situation and define the right Vendor Central scope.

This Vendor Central launch case study shows how one account can require two different approaches at the same time.

The distributor entered Vendor Central with an existing assortment already represented on Amazon through listings created by manufacturers and other resellers. Go2Market could organise the range and submit suggested improvements, but could not freely change the written or visual content on those existing product pages.

The launch of a new coffee brand created a different situation. Go2Market could research the competitive environment, develop dedicated written and visual content, introduce the products and support them with marketing campaigns.

The Vendor operation generated more than €30,000 in its first month, followed by growth of more than 50% one month later. The case study also records 130% growth between August and November 2022.

The first stage therefore involved establishing the Vendor operation while working with catalogue pages that had already been created by other contributors.

Go2Market audited the existing listings and submitted suggestions for improving titles and written content.

Those changes were not accepted by the product owners, so the existing pages largely remained outside the team’s control.

The work therefore focused on organising the assortment, identifying possible improvements and continuing to develop sales within the limitations of the inherited catalogue.

Go2Market worked with the brand owner to prepare written and visual content for several varieties of whole-bean and ground coffee.

Competitor research, keyword selection, product graphics and written listing content formed part of the preparation for the new launch.

The new coffee products were supported by marketing campaigns on Amazon.

This created a different starting point from the inherited distributor assortment because the content and promotional activity could be developed around the new products from the beginning.

The documented sales trajectory was not a straight line.

The first month generated more than €30,000, followed by growth of more than 50% one month later. A price increase in early 2022 negatively affected performance before the account recovered later in the year.

Sales in September 2022 were 47% higher than in January, and the case study records 130% growth between August and November 2022.

These results belong specifically to the distributor, its product range, Amazon.de operation and the periods described in the published case study. They should not be treated as a forecast or guarantee for another Vendor Central launch.

What the case demonstrates is that the right Vendor strategy can differ even within one account: existing catalogue pages may require working within established restrictions, while a new brand can create the opportunity to build the offer from the beginning.
